This is the service we are most known for. In this method of printing, we create a silkscreen of your artwork (which is essentially a large stencil of your design) and squeegee ink through the screen onto your garment. The garment is then put down a large conveyor dryer to cure, or dry, the ink. This is a permanent print and normally outlives the garment itself after many washes and wears over time. There are a few different versions of silkscreen printing listed below:
Spot color printing refers to printing solid colors next to or on top of one another. This is the most common type of printing, which we normally do for company logos, sports teams, marathons, etc. Here are some examples of a spot color print:
Halftones are used for more complex designs that might have shading or fading, or for a photographic image. Our system breaks down the image into varying small dots that create shades of the same color to bring your image to life. Here are some examples of halftones:
An underbase is a layer of ink (normally white) which is printed underneath your graphic to prevent the dye of your garment from soaking through your print. This is normally needed for dark garments when using light colored inks to get the brightest print. We do sometimes use lack of underbase to our advantage in order to create a vintage look or different shades of a color. Here are some examples of garments with and without an underbase:
CMYK printing is a method we use for multicolored photographic images. This method can only be done on light colored garments (white or ash gray). We create four screens, a cyan, a magenta, a yellow, and a black, which mix together when printed (like your printer at home) to create your image. The minimum quantity for CMYK printing is 48 units per order. Here are some examples of a CMYK print:
Embroidery is when we stitch your design onto your garment. We do all of our own embroidery in-house here at Island Silkscreen. Whether you just need one name embroidered onto one garment, or you need hats embroidered for your whole company, there is no job too big or too small for us to embroider.
Just need one or two shirts? We take your artwork (or create artwork for you) and custom make an industrial strength heat transfer and press it onto your garment. There is no color limitation or minimum for this process. They are rated for up to 50+ washes when washed correctly (wash inside out in cold water and hang to dry).
We use vinyl to add names, numbers, and more to your garments. This method is commonly used on personalized sports jerseys. Designs are custom cut from specialized vinyl and then heat-applied onto your garment. We have many colors to choose from, including metallics and sparkle!
